Value Drug Mart
Value Drug Mart Associates Ltd. is a well-established Canadian
retail chain operating both corporate and member-owned locations
throughout Alberta and British Columbia since 1978. Typically
located in smaller communities, Value Drug Mart stores provide
drug and pharmacy services as well as health, beauty and general
merchandise items to their surrounding populations.
The goal from the outset of the POS replacement
project was to select and deploy a single retail solution across
the 51 Value Drug Mart and 30 Apple Drug locations. A team comprised
of member-owners, IT and operations staff was assembled to research,
evaluate and ultimately recommend a new solution to the membership
that would address the current and future business requirements
of Value Drug Mart Associates Ltd.
After selecting a Linux-based software solution, the search began
for a consistent, reliable platform to power this new point of
sale application. Value Drug Mart entertained hardware proposals
from several different vendors and evaluated products based on
architecture, design, serviceability and total cost of ownership.
At the end of this process, the DigiPoS system was selected as
the ideal fit for Value Drug Mart's needs.
