Blockbuster Selects DigiPoS Retail Core and Retail Blade for Australian POS Replacement Project
Sydney, Australia – When entertainment giant Franchise Entertainment Group (FEG) decided to streamline point-of-sale hardware they turned to DigiPoS Store Solutions to assist them. DigiPoS combined their new standardised technology with Blockbuster business specific software application upgrades to vastly improve functions within and between individual franchised locations and head office.
BB Australia Pty Ltd, a part of the FEG group, services 330 Blockbuster stores across Australia and New Zealand. The roll out of 700 DigiPoS Retail Core units for Blockbuster point-of-sale systems has begun, replacing a mis-matched collection of inherited and acquired technology. The Retail Core system provides Blockbuster with a sealed fanless operation which will reduce their energy costs by up to 75%, whilst also reducing their carbon footprint.
Paul Uniacke, Director for FEG, said: “The DigiPoS system gives our store owners extensive cost efficient hardware, peripheral and software options. The system’s small, sturdy design is well placed in a busy retail store and the ease of operation of the POS system means that store owners are able to run their stores more efficiently with better data to build their business from.”
Blockbuster has also selected the DigiPoS Retail Blade “RB 7” for their in-store servers. Mr. Uniacke continues: “The Retail Blade offered us a robust RAID configuration with system parts that are easy to swap or upgrade. It exceeded our specifications. As peripherals can be easily added and the Blade server can double as an additional Retail POS lane when required, the system is ideally suited to Blockbuster with its wide range of store sizes.”
DigiPoS will project manage the rollout as FEG preferred a vendor who offered a one stop shop for all their POS technology. Blockbuster has also selected the DigiPoS DS900 receipt printer, Honeywell MS9590 scanners and 19” LCD touch screens, along with Windows Embedded for Point of Sale as their operating system.
